Crown Princess Victoria officiates ground-breaking ceremony
Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria today officiated the ground breaking ceremony for Sweden’s new university hospital, New Karolinska Solna.

The ceremony took place at the Karolinska Hospital Park, next to the construction site in Solna City, Stockholm region. Ceremony participants included Finance Commissioner Catharina Elmsäter-Svärd, County Governor Per Unckel and Karolinska Institute President Harriet Wallberg-Henriksson.
- At New Karolinska, patients will come first. We are creating patient-secure care that also allows a greater degree of privacy. Organisation will be thematic – various specialists and professions will collaborate on patient care, sayd Professor Lennart Persson, managing director of New Karolinska Solna Administration.

- New Karolinska will meet very stringent environmental requirements and will likely be the world’s most environmentally friendly hospital. Our goal is that the project will be a model for other hospital buildings around the world, said Johan Karlström, CEO of Skanska.
Karolinska employees, students, neighbours and other stakeholders were invited to Friday’s event where also and exhibition of the new university hospital were presented.
